Don't you just hate it when you need to talk to somebody and they seem like they don't have the time to listen? They may cut the conversation shorter than you need it to be or even only listen halfheartedly. It gives you a sinking, deeply unsatisfied feeling; don't it? I know it does that for me. The enemy doesn't waste any time jumping on that. Right away feelings of disconnections, hurt, low self esteem and many other kinds of feelings descend on my emotions and thoughts and if I'm not careful, I'll follow them straight into anger, frustration and even depression. What do you do when this happens?
Jesus had this experience just before the day of His crucifixion. He desperately needed His closest disciples, Peter, James and John to support Him. But when He returned from praying in the garden of Gethsemane, Not none but on three different occassions, He found them sleeping, Matthew 26:36-46. I hate when people fall asleep during a heart wrenching moment. But even though Jesus was obviously hurt, he didn't allow his feelings to dictate his heart.
We don't know how are friends are feeling when we need them and not all of time are they able to answer our needs. When that happens we have to release them like Jesus did. In Matthew 26:41 He said, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." He gave them the benefit of the doubt. He knew that it was only God who can always supply our needs- be it physical, emotional or spiritual.
So when you experience this fact in your girlfriend-sister relationships, remember the flesh is weak in that it may be a time issue ir an emotional issue or even a spiritual issue that prevents them from being available at that moment even though in their heart of hearts the spirit is willing. Don't be so hard on them, sometimes it's by God's design that they are not available. Sometimes He wants us to come straight to Him for the answers.
