Mary- a True Friend

Hey ladies,

As I join the world in celebrating the Easter season, commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, I'm taken by the story of Mary Magdala at the tomb.  In Matthew 28, we see Mary going to Jesus' tomb Sunday at dawn, three days after Jesus was crucifies to death.   She had followed him thtough the trial and the torture.  Now Mary and Jesus' friendship had come to a tragic end.  It was very likely that the government wanted to eradicate all ties and beliefs of Jesus.  Life became hazardous to all who were associated with Jesus and his teachings. Most people would probably have run away, scared and grief strickened like his disciples had done. But I was struck at how Mary did not give up her friendship.  Even after Jesus had died; she was the first one to the tomb ready to minister to his body.  She decided to be faithful all the way to the very end.  As a result it was Mary who God used to spread the message of Christ's ressurection!

I wonder about my own relationships and friendships.  How much of a friend am I?  Am I prepared in my heart to stick around and minister even when the journey takes us to sad and difficult places?  Will I take the time to see the circumstances to victory?  Would I allow my reputation to be on the line to help my friend? Will my friendship place me in a place that God can use for His glory? From the Amplified version of the Bible in I Corinthians 13:4a, says, "Love endures long and is patient and kind..."  The 7th verse says, "Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]."

I'm certainly need the help and wisdom of God in this area.  Its my desire to be a friend that God can use to bring victory even in difficult times.   How do you rate?
